Antique Italian Blue Green Flower: Millefiori Cane Glass Bead, 13x12mm
Such an alluring combination of colors, these intricate beads are a true collector's item. These old Millefiori beads are Venetian, and date back possibly as far as the 1800's. They were traded into Africa for goods such as indigo, rice, sugar... hundreds of years ago. They are becoming increasingly harder to find, and therefore are considered collectible.
Millefiori translates into "Thousand Flower." This is due to the intricate repeating patterns on the surface of these beads. This is one of those strands of beads that I couldn't walk away from. Extremely brilliant in color, in beautiful condition, and the perfect shape for using in jewelry, these beads are something to be treasured.
This listing is for one bead. Individual beads measure approximately 13x12mm. The hole size is approximately 3mm.
It's really neat to think about all the places that these beads have been, what their value has been to different people throughout history, and the many miles they have travelled.
