These are just in, and they will make your boho-heart skip a beat. Perfectly bohemian in style, these tribal beauties are handmade in Kathmandu, Nepal. They are made from natural white conch shell whose holes have been inlaid with chips of red coral and turquoise.
They have beautifully decorative Brass caps inlaid with gemstone chips at the top, and the mantra "Om Mani Padme Om," which translates into "the jewel in the lotus." The workmanship on these is fabulous.
Conch shells are believed to be auspicious in both Buddhist and Hindu cultures. In Hindu Mythology, Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth, was believed to have used a White Conch Shell as her abode. The white Conch comes from the Indian Ocean. In its full form, the Conch shell is used during times of prayer, and as a votive to keep away dangers of the sea. Due to its interior spiraling feminine form, it also represents female fertility. It is often used in traditional Indian and Nepali jewelry.
Listing is for 1 pendant. As each pendant is handmade from natural Conch shells, size will vary.
Pendants measures approximately 2 3/4" tall x 1" wide.
The decorative Pendant bail is about 8mm wide, large enough for a leather or other type of cord.
