This vintage Tuareg bead necklace is one of those gems that I come across from time to time....so unusual, so amazing. This is a vintage necklace from the Tuareg Tribe. I think these beads are made from clay, in a perfect red, white, and blue color combo.
It is in good wearable condition, and closes on at the back of the neck with a hook clasp (see photo 3). 5 strands narrow down into one strand at the back. The strands are varying lengths, as you can see in the photo, so it creates a layered look.
The longest layer is approximately 30" long, so the necklaces hangs to mid-chest.
The beads measure approximately 8x4mm, and the ones in the back are larger, with the larges ones at approximately 14x6mm.
The Tuareg tribe are a nomadic people who live in northern Africa. They are known for their textiles and personal adornment.
