Berry Bash: 15mm Vintage African Vinyl Record Beads
These fabulous beads are made in Africa from Vulcanite, a material that was used to make vinyl records. They are known as Vinyl Record Beads, since they are made from the same material. Natively, they are called "jigada beads," which is a really fun name to say!
They are vintage, and hail from Mali. Women wear them around their waist, to help them hold their shape.
This is a great multi-colored strand in an awesome bright neon color combo with brilliant colorblock pattern in pink and red, with a few yellow & green disc beads too!
Beads measure 15x.5mm- a perfect size for making statement jewelry!
There are HUNDREDS of beads on this 30"+/- strand.
Temporarily strung in a loop, the way they are traditionally strung in Africa. Why not cut them apart and make some recycled vinyl magic of your own?
