These beautiful hand carved and hand-stained beads have a great natural feel to them; they are perfect for making earthy-girl and yoga-inspired jewelry. Made in India, from cow bone that has been stained deep indigo/navy blue and then painted with a vertical striped pattern.
These have a nice slightly-larger hole on them (approximately 1.5mm), so they would work on smaller cord or twine.
The strand is approximately 8" long, with approximately 40 beads, and the beads are a rondelle shape, measuring approximately 5x6mm.
Bead Size: 6x5mm
Hole Size: 1.5+mm
Approximate Number of beads: 40
Strand Length: 8"
Color: Indigo & White
Curious to know about the source of the bone?
In India and Nepal, not much is wasted. So instead of just eating the meat of an animal, every part of the animal is used: bones for things like beads, hides/hair for clothing and accessories and talismans, and the meat is consumed.
The making of these beads and pendants provides a livelihood for families in remote villages in Nepal and India, which we are honored to support and share with you.
As many of my products come from Nepal, a portion of my proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Nepal Earthquake Relief.
