These fabulous beads are made in Africa from Vulcanite, a material that was used to make vinyl records. They are known as Vinyl Record Beads, since they are made from the same material. Natively, they are called "jigada beads," which is a really fun name to say!
They are vintage, and hail from Mali. Women wear them around their waist, to help them hold their shape.
This is a great multi-colored strand in an awesome bright neon color combo. The colors on this strand are a bright Pink, Red, Yellow & Green.
Beads measure 6x.5mm - a perfect size for making bracelets!
There are HUNDREDS of beads on this 37"+/- strand.
Temporarily strung in a loop, the way they are traditionally strung in Africa. Why not cut them apart and make some recycled vinyl magic of your own?
My stock on 6mm strands is running really low! This is one of the last multi-colored 6mm strands that I have for now!
