The shape of these little Tuareg treasures reminds me of a fishing lure. What a fun new take on the standard Tuareg tassels! From the Gambian Tuareg people, a nomadic people who reside in the Sahara, predominantly in Mali, Niger, and Algeria. Soft Goat leather has been dyed and cut into strips and wrapped into this juju of a bundle.
The colors on these will vary, but all are some shade of red and green, with black. You can request a specific color at checkout, but please note that we may not be able to honor it; it depends on what we have in stock at the time of your order.
They measure approximately 7.5" from top to bottom, and 5/8" wide at the bulge at the top, 1" at the top of the fringe.
The loop at the top is approximately 1".
Fringe is important for many reasons in the Tuareg culture. The more abundant the fringe on a person, the more status he or she is said to hold.
These make great pendants, and would be perfect for incorporating into your fringe-requiring craft projects!
Listing is for 1 tassel.
