These fabulous beads hail from Mali, Africa. They are commonly known as "vinyl record beads," though they are made from vulcanite, which is a compressed rubber product that was commonly used in the Victorian period to make jewelry. Women in Mali wear these beads as belly bracelets.
The beads in this listing are a great orange color, perfect for Autumn designs, and they are a great small size: 4x1mm thick. These are strung into a loop, which is how they are traditionally sold in Africa.
There are HUNDREDS, if not thousands of beads on this 33"+/- strand.
**As many of my products come from Nepal, a portion of my proceeds will be donated to the Unicef and Americares Nepali relief efforts. **
