Pink Round Prosser Glass Vintage African Trade Beads, 9mm

Add to Wishlist

These beads are a beautiful dusty-rose pink color that is unusual in African beads. These beads are a perfect round shape, some with a barely-noticeable line around their middle, from the mold that they were made in. These beads are called Prosser Beads, after the man who developed this technique of making beads. These beads were made in Europe and traded into Africa. This style of bead dates back to late 1800's and early 1900's.

This listing is for 1 strand in a beautiful dusty-rose pink. The strand is strung in a loop, the way they are traditionally strung in Africa. The entire strand is 25" long (21" of beads with 4" of twisted twine at the top).

Beads measure approximately 9mm, with about a 2mm, hole.

Approximately 74 beads per strand.

These beads are old; they date back as early as the early 1900's and originated from Europe. They do show some dirt and minor wear, but this is part of their beauty, and attests to their age. African beads have such mystery attached to them; they have been worn for decades, travelled continents, and will be around for hundreds of years into the future. Be a part of the mystery and let these beads grace you with their presence.
